Thailand Trip - part 1

The trip started from 7 May 2008 and ended at 12 May 2008.

7 May 2008

Nothing much to say on this day. As we (Dad, Mom, Aunt, Bro and I) took mid night bus to Hat Yai, Thailand before we continue another bus trip to Phuket. It was really a long long bus ride, Kuala Lumpur - Hat yai took around 8 hours.

8 May 2008

Today, Early morning we were already in Hat yai, finding for the bus to Phuket, Had our Breakfast, and around 10.30 A.M, we were once again on the Bus leaving for Phuket.

Lesson to Learn: If you ever planned to go to Phuket from Hat yai, never ever scared there is no bus. Cause you will be always able to find a bus in Hat Yai Bus station. Just take tuk tuk and tell the driver to send you to "Hat Yai Bus station", they will already know it. Because it is the only central bus station. You can get cheaper price in there, rather than you order the bus ticket through some agents, there is around 100+ Bath difference for the bus fare.  It is always much more safer where you were in big group. But Kept in Mind that there is no bus to Phuket at night. I think the last buses are around 4 in the afternoon.

Another long long bus ride to Phuket. Arrived in Phuket around 6 P.M. All of us, was quite excited. Reasons are:

- We ‘felt’ that we were arriving soon

- We didn’t know where were we exactly (as most of the people speaks only Thai language)

- We didn’t know exactly how to get to our Patong Tower Condominium from the Phuket Bus Station which is from my research is in Phang nga Rd, Phuket Town.

- We would be able to rest soon =) This was the most comforting part.

Luckly learned from mistake before the trip I had done some researches; the road, popular areas, transportation, etc. So, this time I had a small small map with me. With this map, I was able to communicate with one lady. She spoke a little bit of english. And supprisingly it’s enough. I showed her my map, and our destination, and asked her how to get there. Although she did not so sure, but she voluntary asked for taxi for us (their taxi is a private sedan they use it to carry passangers) and became translator for us.

This driver was so eager to be our tour guide. Offered to send us to phi phi island, etc etc. And he spoke english that really hard to understand. I remember he said something like "popol" which refered to people. Although we can’t understand all what he said, It’s funny though. And our first thai language is something sounds like "nong". He was asking for the way to patong tower main entrance, he called a guy "nong a nong". When I heard it, I kept on laughing, as it reminded me to one of our friends, which everybody calls him "nong nong". So bad. =P

Ok the story of the long long journey ended there. We were in Patong Tower now. Checked in. Then, we are in our lovely room. =) Glad we arrived there safely. The only problem was we can’t contacted my sister and her family that were coming from Penang. The malaysian number can’t be used, the public telephone also seemed not in our side. Then, we planned to go out to find some food for our dinner and let my sister contacted us.

The area where we stayed was nearby the central of shopping and tourist popular walking spots; Bangla Rd, Jungelyon Shopping mall, OTop, and many more. So as we stepped out of our Condo, it was quite crowded outside. But, not more than half an hour, suddenly the wind was so strong, and all the ‘ang mo lang’ (westerner) were running all over, seemed like afraid of Tsunami, as we could heard the wave from the beach was so strong and loud. It’s quite scary, but as there was nothing happened, so I could said it’s quite fun. =P

As, we afraid of heavy rain and could not go back to our condo, so we just ordered some food for take away. And first day in Thailand, I already had their Tom-Yam, Slurp~~~

And another Thai word of the day is Kho Phun Kha (used by female) and kho phun khap (for male) which means Thank You =)

After the meals we were walking around to check on their city tour for tomorrow, and we ordered a package for phi phi island trip that covered Khai Island, Loh Samah Bay, Monkey Beach, Maya Island, Phi Phi Don, Viking cave, and Pi Leh Bay for only 1400 Bath, as there was 50% off now. (will tell you why in the next post)

To be Continue…

P.S. We finally were able to contacted my sister, and they arriving safely. Yay~~ can see my cute little niece =D
