Thailand Trip - Part 2
The next day was when the hwet wet Thailand trip began… My parents and my sis did not join on this trip, they had their own city tour, and it looks fun (from the picture they took).
9 May 2008
Woke up early in the morning, there was someone picked us up for our phi phi island tour. He fetched us with other seven girls from Australia ( I guess) to Rassada Harbor.
The trip supposed to start at 9.30, but… there were problems with the boat’s engine. So we had to wait. And finally, the tour guide announced that we all would be travelling in two groups instead of one, and apologized for the inconvinience for waiting so long. And the trip started.
The very first place we visited was Khai Island. I like this island best from all the other islands we visited. It is not a really wide island to explore, so we were given about 45 minutes only. Some of the foreigners went down to the water and swam, others laid down their beach towel and had their sun bath. While, there were some who just walked around and took some pictures.
Finished with this island, we were back on the boat, and the rain started to pour. Piuh… The wave was so strong and we were warned not to stood up as there were some accidents in the past when there were someone who broke his hand because of this. Although it was very dangerous, it was fun. (While at the boat I dare not to say this, as I CAN’T swim)
The next place was Phi Phi Don, It was one of the Island that severely harmed by Tsunami in 2004. It wasn’t a really nice place to visit, as it had not yet well recovered after the tsunami, the beach side was not as nice as Khai island, it’s a mess here. They still put the warning board that if the sea level is higher, people are asked to go to higher land. I myself really do not like that place. But there were tourists who stayed in the hotel there. (I think that’s the only one hotel in that island) BUT…. one thing for sure, we had our lunch there. AKH!!! Tom Yam, really nice… Slurp~~~
After lunch, we had sometimes to explore the island. There were lots of empty whisky bottles (there are few bars in the beach side), and i took a piece of paper and wrote something, put it in the bottle, and then throw it to the water. The bottle came back to the beach side, throw it again, come back again. Baka. Then, I gave up, as the ang mo lang kept on looking at me, thought that I threw rubbish to the sea. Hehe
From that beach we headed for the monkey beach. The rain falled heavily, akh!!!! So Pain, it was like being shot by a bullet. Luckily we had our beach towel with us to cover our body. The sea became wilder and wilder, and it’s so cold and Fun as well.
When we came close to the monkey beach, the boat stopped in the middle, and the guide asked us to take the life jacket and mask, and asked us to jumped down to the water for snorkeling. Ak! I can’t swim, he convinced me that it’s okay. But it was NOT. I could not let my grip off my bro. Akh!!! I floated. But floated wrongly, my leg seemed like afraid of the water and wanna come out from there. Haha.. Others kept looking at me and laugh, a guy (malaysian) asked me whether I am okay. I shouted "NO! I’m not okay at all". Went back to the boat, the guy come to me, and kept smiling. SHOOT!!! Think back of all these snorkeling stuff, I always keep on smilling. And decide to LEARN to swim. Can I? Why does water always look so scary?
After that we stopped in monkey beach, and as it’s rainy the monkeys has their they off. The sand was so nice. Love it. But it’s nothing there. Have no idea why they make this place as a resort area. >.<
The next destination was Maya bay, it is the beach where Leonardo Dicaprio had his movie shooted. BUT!!! The guide told us that their partner there asked not to come, as the sea was too dangerous for our boat. And it’s how it’s canceled. I heard that it was a really nice place. ‘ ^ ‘
Then, the guide asked us whether to continue on the trip or go back home. Others might think of safety so requested to go back. Majority won. And we are headed back to Rassada Harbor.
And you know why they give 50% off now. Because they knew the weather and roughly knew will end up like this. Or it can be vice versa, tourists knew the weather now and therefore choose not to go on the trip where we spent most of our time in the middle of the sea. So tour agents have no choice to attract more customers by giving discount. It’s business.
Although a bit disappointed, but it’s fun to experience this kind of weather and returned back home safely. =P and that day was the day how I got all my skin burned. I’m so dark now. T_T
Lesson to Learn: Check on weather before go on the trip. Make sure it suits with your plans. If you wish to shop, don’t go anywhere when it’s rainy. If you wish to see snow, obviously go somewhere that have snow in their winter.
To be Continue…
