Almost…

April 21st, 2008 by linda-tan

Today exam is damn tiring. This is the second exam that I have to non-stop writing due to time constraint. Ok, let me flash back a bit.

Exam Started at 11 A.M - busying filled up the cover of the answer sheet. When the reading time started, jotted down some notes in the questions. Then, when we were allowed to started, there is one and only thing in my mind, "Quantity", "Quantity", and "Quantity".

What mindset is that?! Blame the lecturer on keeping reminding us "if the question carries 20 marks, then write about 5 points or 2 pages, dun forget to start with the introduction and provide some example." Yes! not all the part of the sentences are recorded clearly in my memory. My mind picks up only 2 pages, pages, pages, write more, write more… @@

And there I go. First question I did carries 30 points, and I wrote about 3-4 pages. By the time I finished that question, one hour had passed. Oh no… I still have 2 questions (60 points) to work on. Rushing, writing non-stop, and when the time was almost up, I was already in the last part of the last question. Suddenly, the invigilator announced that the time was extended, another 40 minutes for us. Akh!!! So Happy. The first thing I did. Let my hand rest. When I put down my pen, my fingers were very stiff, numb, cannot move… Shoot! I have to did some exercise to prevent my hand from what so called carpal tunnel syndrome. Haha… This time is a bit too much, am I?…

Today, there were quite lot of disruption in the exam hall. First, computing students were complaining on their case study, and their lecturer came in and said the paper was wrong. and they will be contacted to sit for the next ‘right’ paper. WTH! Can see how good is APIIT? =.= And all the chaos caused, make me very distracted as the students were noisyly leaving the hall.

That’s fine. Another thing is, one of the student in front of me kept complaining. AKH! Calling the invigilator just to tell them that he felt very cold, and wanted to move to another place. Nonsense, It is the thing that everyone knows that APIIT’s exam hall is always so damn cold, why can he prepare something to anticipate it? Akh… Invigilator allows him to move, he wanted to pick his own seat. =.= I really cannot stand it. Ended up, he stayed in his original seat. AKKKKKKHHHH….

That’s fine. After that, he called the invigilator to come to chit chat on something that are really not important. Asking when does the next intake start, etc etc. Why cant you ask the admin later, man?

I will never ever seat close this guy anymore. Akh! He sat there and did very less to its paper, and did so much unnecessary things that disturb others, ok… might not disturb so many of other students, but he really pissed me off. Akh! Thingking of this, make me very emotional.

Now… Preparing for the last exam, SIM. Ganbatte ne. After this, Last semester of my juorney in APIIT will end soon. Almost… =) End of some things always mean the start of some other things. Anticipating it. =D

Three

April 13th, 2008 by linda-tan

Never think of watching a play before, and here we go… Today we were in KLPac for a physical theater, "Three". Stated that the story is inspired by a novel written by Mitch Albom, "Five People You Meet in Heaven". Here is the sysnopsis of Three:

"What is the meaning of our existence? Do our ordinary lives make a difference? will we look back with regret and feel that we contributed nothing significant in our lifetime? Or will we rejoice with all that accomplishments that we have made through out? This is a story, begining at the end, where all these questions are put forward. The people we’ve met, the things that we’ve done and how much of it is accounted for at the end of the day."

Mmmm… How was the show?! I might say that was a very nice physical theater with talented cast. With only body language and expression, they succeeded in touching audiences’ heart. And of course, it was supported by original live music with incredible band members. =)

Enjoy it!!!

But the day was closed by being chased by mosquitoes in the Koi Garden. Akh! Lately mosquitoes seems declaring a war with human and wanna take over the earth. Sooooo many. Piuh~ And the classic part was I fell down, ended up with twisted hand and wounded finger. Woow!!!

Stage Clear!

April 7th, 2008 by linda-tan

I just finished my interview session this afternoon. How is it?

My advisor is darn good, within half an hour, she has uploaded the result. I think she did a fair marking or I might said a bit lenient by looking at the job I’ve done =P She marks so fast, so that she is done with me asap. Haha… But she really is good. I likes the way she commented in mistakes made and improvement that I should work out. =)

Now, "Let it be" really is words of wisdom =)

Looking at the future! Prepare for the coming exam. My fren send me a list of first class things that I’ve already have and others that I have to work out. As he said, let me star with this first class degree first. Peace =D

P.S. For others who haven’t had their mid point interview, Gud luck!

Great Help =)

April 4th, 2008 by linda-tan

I just troubled someone who I don’t know to help me with my primary research for my FYP. Posted list of open questions in one of her post’s comment lists, so that she can help me to formally post it in her blog, http://mumsgather.blogspot.com/

Here are some open questions that I posted in the link above. Anyway, this is not a formal questionnaire nor interview, but more towards an open discussion to get more real and accurate information from the related parties.

In any case, for those who are interested in preschool-related stuff might be able to share in this open discussion. =) Here we go…

1. Do childcare and preschool sound different for parents?

2. Will parents choose childcare instead of preschool, or vice versa, by knowing that preschools are more educational services provider, while childcares are more custodial and most of the time offer full-time services that would benefit the working parents?

Especially for Question 3 and 4 please sort out the options provided, from the most important to the least. The inclusion of some additional points with justifications will be greatly appreciated.

3. What are the requirements that can make up a quality preschool?

- Well-managed curriculum

- Facilities (e.g. Libarary, playground, teaching materials)

- Quality educators

- Learning environment

- Others ___________

4. How would parents define "quality educators"?

- A degree holder

- Training certified person

- Patience in delaing with the children (Behavior and attitude)

- Others ___________________

5. Would you, as parents, allow your children to be exposed to technology in their preschool age (3 to 5 years old) as supportive tools in their learning process? Such as: computer interactive game, letters introduction with the use of computers, access to internet, etc. (Any examples of any kinds of technoology that have helped your children to learn might be useful information to be shared)

6. Finally, any opinions to point out and expectations to be expected from a preschool, please do clarify it further. Thus, it will help in the analyses and solutions finding for a better development of early childhood education.

In any case, if anyone who read this post happen to have any relatives or frens interested in preschool-related issues, would be better if they have children who are in their preschool age, please help me to direct them and give opinion on this post. Thank you =)

P.S Beforehand, I would like to thank MG for her kindness and help. =)

Straighten things up

April 2nd, 2008 by linda-tan

Yup! Finishing my last assignment, now left 1 big big project to go.

I want to straighten things up, as I think I have been "polluting" my ethic lecturer’s name. Hoho

Two things for sure, He is a very possitive person who look himself soooooo highly (is it a good things? *Wondering*) and his teaching style is definitely from stone age.

But another thing is he is a knowledgable person, and I do learn things from him, indirectly, though. =P

The moral of the story is there is no definite good nor bad for everything and every person.  This might be included as the application of Theory Relativisim in Ethics. Haha

I’m really into ethics now. Is it ethical to do this? Is it ethical to do that? CSR? Triple bottom line? Egoism? Utilitarianism? Mmmmm… Haha =P

"I do my best and let go of my expectations"

This is one of the quotes inside the book given by my friend.

The Question is: "Is it the right thing to do?"

I have no idea. I should say I would be glad if I were able to apply it, as my expcetations seem taking my life away. T.T

Am I looking at the future that is blur, then I feel the fear? or am I looking at the future with the fear, so that it seems to be blur?

ah… feeling so depreseed now!

P.S. Thanks for CW for the incredible book =)

Smart Kids - Education Fair 2008

March 23rd, 2008 by linda-tan

Yosh!!! Just came back from Smart Kids Malaysia Largest Education Fair 2008, it was in PWTC. Piuh… Darn corwded!

I went there alone. I was there for my final year project purposes. As I’m doing something concern preschools. So, there I am - looking around to check and compare the preschools’ curriculum in Malaysia.

There are total of thousands family there, I think… Most of parents go there just to check out thing for their children. And that is what education fair is meant for, mainly… =P So, I’m totally out from their target markets. Haha..

I visited booth to booth, and most of them do not ’serve’ me well… =.=" Don’t like them la… haha

Anyway, it is understanable… Most of them come out with the statements, such as: "How old is your child?", "This might be best for your child, coz…", etc, as they thought I’m married and have children… AKH!!!!

There was a lady that is even worse.  When I was asking for brochures, she just looked at me, give me the brochures, and did not stop looking at me… Her face was saying "Do you have children already? Don’t kid arround… What has happened to today teenagers?" Haha… And I think she cannot hold the thought any longer, so she opened up her mouth and asked "are you…?"

Need not her to finish her question, so that I said "not yet", waved my hand and shaked my head to convince her.. haha =P

Oh… Do I look that old? T.T

Piuh… Tiring yet a fun day though… Now with stacks of brochures, where should I start? Wondering which curriculum will fit best my child? Haha…

A brain-teaser to lift up the mood =)

March 14th, 2008 by linda-tan

Here is the email passed by one of my friends. It’s quite fun I think… Let’s get started…

A man wanted to get into his work building, but he had forgotten his code. However, he did remember five clues. These are what those clues were:

The fifth number plus the third number equals fourteen.
The fourth number is one more than the second number.
The first number is one less than twice the second number.
The second number plus the third number equals ten.
The sum of all five numbers is 30.

What were the five numbers and in what order?

For those who do not receive the email contains the same riddle from me, will reveal the answer by next week… =P

Have Fun in solving the riddle…
